This beautiful concert by Malladi Brothers came just when the bliss experienced by attending Sri Sanjay Subramanyam’s concert a day back was fading away. The involvement with which the brothers sang and the wonderful effect the concert had on me cannot be expressed in words. To add to it, there was this great team of accompanists in the form of Sri M.A. Sundareswaran, Sri Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman and Sri B. Sree Sundar Kumar. The way Sri Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman played for “nannu viDachi” and the taniavartanam he played in this concert will remain in my memory for a long time to come.
Ram,
There are very few “brother/sister” team where both the participants are equally good or share the performance in Alapana / Swaras etc. Most of the cases one of them would be very prominant and other will accompany during Neraval or Swaras.
I found Malladi Brothers to be different. Both of them are equally participative and compliment each other very well. They are very promising and hope to see them in the big league.
So very true … agree with you completely.
I thought I can share my view points on this concert.
1) neraval & swaram in reethigowlai was overdone. Raga sketch of bilahari and kalyani (or atleast one of them)instead of moretime spent on Nannu vidachi.
2) Wish he could have taken MMG inplace of Reethigowlai and brought in some heavy weights (kalyani, kambodhi, bairavi etc)as main item. I do like MMG and this song very much but never thought it would be a main item.
3) UKS was at his best throughout (as usual).
4) The output noise was slightly uncomfortable.
Dear Sri Sriram,
Thanks for your views.
Regards,
Ram
quite interesting. MMG main is it? and vidulaku is just the kriti one could fit as main, barring the mEru samAna.
