Tears flowed from my eyes as I read about the passing away of Smt. T. Mukta today. I have never met the great musician but the music of the Brinda-Mukta duo has always impressed me in such a great manner that I cannot express in words. If I could experience such great bliss just by listening to a handful of recordings/songs of this great musician duo, I can’t even imagine the magnitude of satisfaction and contentment that people who heard them live would have experienced.
A great loss. May her soul rest in peace.
2007 doesn’t seem to be a good year for the carnatic music world. SVK mama, Kumbakonam Sri Rajappa Iyer and Smt T. Mukta were all people who have contributed a lot to the art and who left us this year.
A few articles on Smt. T. Mukta:
Very sad! What a repertoire of Padams she(Along with Smt Brinda) had?A great loss to Carnatic Music.
Sathej

an end of an era!
