Reminds me of the same time last year when I attended most concerts in that series, traveling all the way from the opposite end of the city.

A mini season in Bangalore, I guess! TMK seems to be singing everywhere except Chennai. And Sikkil Guruchuran seems to have the fortune of a great team.

Hope July throws up at least a couple of concerts of TMK. SGC’s team is indeed great.

    Ram,

You seems to be following Bangalore season better than we Bangaloreans do. Thanks for the information.

Like I said earlier, all the stalwarts are performing on week days. Though I do not have to do a cross Bangalore travel for Odukathur Mutt, it is a challenge to reach the venue on time.

Sikkil Gurucharan seems to be getting good support team at major events. He is performing here today and ‘I suspect’ not all that great a team.

Reaching Odukkathur Mutt on time after office on weekdays from any part of Bangalore further down from Silk Board is herculean task. All artists too seem to be working on week days compounding the problem. Wishing you luck as this is one of the ‘major’ Carnatic fests in Bangalore.

As somebody commented on your rasikas.org post, Sanjay Subramanian is performing here on the ONAM day and as you know half of Bangalore will not be working.

  6. Ram Avatar

Which half do you belong to? 😉

    Hello friends,

I saw the list and features great names. But i am really disappointed to see the list not featuring local artists other than mysore brothers. Its easy to say music is beyond state. I feel its a disrespect shown to Karnataka Artists. Don’t we have R.K.Srikantan, dont we have R.K.Padmanabha.They are such great performers. I just cant understand the motive behind it. This is sheer. discrimination and not a good sign.Would this have been tolerated if it would have happenend in Madras??sorry for such a post but this is shear agony.

    Dear Raju,

I have no idea about whether any such discrimination is happening. I am just trying to think aloud from the point of view of a rasika. Isn’t it good for you to get to hear so many artists whom you can’t listen to in Bangalore usually? There are so many opportunities you already have to hear local artists at other venues.
