Are you expecting a job promotion or pitching for one? Here is how you can make a strong case for it.
1) Find out what (competencies/abilities) is expected from a person at the next level.
2) Understand both functional/technical as well as behavioral competencies. Do not miss out on the behavioral ones.
3) Demonstrate them in your current role and show readiness.
