Hi Ram…
I was browsing thru the net to know sites on carnatic music when i stubled upon you blog..I must confess i am throroughly impressed by the way you have organized your blog and the quality of information available in the same…I too am based out of chennai…
Ram could you please refer me to some specific links wherein i can listen to mridangam “Thaniavarthanas”..I have learned it for 4 years but not fully into it now due to official commitments….However really keen to hear some quality pieces…

I cannot readily recall any specific link for taniavartanams. There should be a few audio files available on http://www.sangeethapriya.org . There are also some video clips of taniavartanams on youtube (Sri Palghat Mani Iyer’s, Sri Umayalpuram Sivaraman’s etc). You can find them by searching for keywords like “mrudangam”, “mridangam”, “umayalpuram” etc.

Have you attended any concert by Thrissur Brothers, the upcoming singers. Do write about them if you get to hear them sing.

Unfortunately I do not run an event organization and hence cannot assist you in this regard. I just write about what I enjoy in Indian classical music concerts I attend.
